C: This is a recording of the Maiden flight of PH-AMJ
I recieved this email from the owner the same evening
To all my dear friends,
Today, testpilot Bart Kroes and I planned to make a High Speed Test Run with my homebuilt BX-2 Cherry, PH-AMJ, on the runway at Teuge Airport, to check how the oiltemperature would behave under full load.
Last week and yesterday, the plane lifted the nosewheel very easely and the left mainwheel came off the ground as well. Speed was about 50-60 knots.
But the oil temperature was too high.
So, we changed the cooling a bit.
Today the airplane wanted to fly at 50 knots and lifted off, but Bart reduced the throttle a bit to get her on the ground again.
But with no rolling resistance anymore, the plane gained speed and lifted more and more at 60 knots.
With 250 meters runway ahead, we decided to give full throttle and make a trip around the field. During this round, everything felt solid, looked very promising.
After 5 minutes Bart put her down and with a landing roll of 300 meters we vacated the runway.
So, First Flight by surprise, I would say.
But with the same feeling and experience that I had after my first solo flight, back in 2003.
Finally, after a timespan of ten years, the plane proved what I wanted: to build a flying aircraft.
Next week and further this year, we will continue finetuning of the plane's character and Bart will learn me how "to tame" this bird...
I'll keep you informed! And don't forget to visit www.xs4all.nl/~hermhart/phamj
Cheers!
